Joel is widely considered one of the world’s foremost authorities on strength and conditioning for combat sports and is the new-age godfather in energy system training. In addition to influencing and improving coaches in a multitude of sports around the world, Joel has personally trained over a dozen world champion athletes as well as consulting and working with many elite organizations ranging from the Navy SEALS to professional sports teams. Coach Bob is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, the former Director of Sports Nutrition for the University of Florida and a Team USA 2008 Olympic sport dietitian. Bob has worked with an incredible number of athletes in nearly every sport imaginable, including triathlon, track and field, marathon, mountain biking, road and track cycling, cross country, swimming, football, tae kwon do, motocross, tennis, wrestling, weightlifting, rowing, skeleton, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and even NASCAR. Bob has a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science, a master's degree in Health and Exercise Science, a second master's degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition, is a registered dietitian, exercise physiologist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a High Performance Triathlon Coach. Bob currently consults as a sport dietitian for US Sailing (Olympic and Paralympic sailors), the USA Triathlon National Team and is one of the very few Sport Dietitians in the country who specializes in developmental athletes.
Kelly is a coach, physical therapist, speaker, and the New York Times Best-Selling author behind Becoming a Supple Leopard, Ready to Run and Becoming a Supple Leopard 2nd Edition. Kelly uses performance-based Orthopedic Sports Medicine to help athletes return to elite level sport performance and believes all human beings should be able to perform basic maintenance on themselves. Dr. Jim Afremow
Jim is a much sought-after mental training coach, licensed professional counselor, and the author of a book that should be mandatory reading for every athlete, coach, and parent; The Champion’s Mind: How Great Athletes Think, Train and Thrive. Tex McQuilkin, MS, CSCS, and CHES is the Chief of Optimal Performance at Power Athlete, a team focused on empowering performance for the people. Since 2012, Tex has traveled the world teaching coaches how to teach people to move well and identify what is limiting their performance. After transitioning from a Texas football athlete into a dominant lacrosse athlete, he played a successful 4-year career in college, three of which as captain. Jake Epstein is an accomplished coach, athlete and is the lead instructor for the Epstein Hitting System™. Jake graduated from Cal State Fullerton with degrees in Communications and Marketing and completed four years of Division I college baseball before heading up to the big league with the Anaheim Angels. In college, Jake earned all-conference honors in the Big 12 and West Coast Conferences, and holds the Big 12 record for the longest home run hit, 576′, and batted .336 during his stint with the Angels. Jake has coached countless athletes from the youth to the bigs, certified hundreds of coaches in the Epstein Hitting System™ and is now scaling his coaching to reach the world through his new online Academy.

Mike is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with a Masters in Sports Biomechanics, head strength and conditioning coach for the Indy 11 professional soccer team, the president of Robertson Training Systems and the co-owner of Indianapolis Fitness and Sports Training (IFAST), which has been named one of the top 10 gyms in the US. Coach Prindle has been swimming in the pool or coaching from the deck for over 35 years. Besides being a competitive swimmer herself, she is an ASCA Level 5 coach, which is a title only held by the world’s most elite level swim coaches. Her coaching resume includes eight Olympians, one world-record holder, two American record-holders, multiple US Olympic Trialists, nine All-Americans, and numerous Florida State high school champions. She also works with other professional athletes including tri-athletes, pentathletes, baseball players, and LPGA tour members, using aquatics as a cross training technique to finesse their athletic performances. In addition to her work on deck, Prindle has consulted multiple swim programs, instituted Middle School swimming in Florida as a funded sport, is an elected member of the American Swim Coaches Association's (ASCA) Board of Directors, and was recently nominated to USA Swimming’s Senior Development Executive Committee, where she will serve during this 2012-2016 quad.
Coach Cal is the Head Olympic Sports Strength Coach at the University of Minnesota, the co-author of the best-selling book Triphasic Training: : A systematic approach to elite speed and explosive strength performance, and founded XLathlete.com. Cal’s revolutionary training methods have led his athletes to over 30 Big 10 titles, 10 National Champions, over 400 All-Americans, and the only white sprinters to ever go sub 45 seconds in the 400m! He has consulted with Olympic and World Champions in various sports and professional athletes in the NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, and Professional Boxing. Cal is an incredibly intelligent and ground breaking coach, but was also an incredible athlete at the University of Findlay. Cal was on 3 National Championship Teams, 2 in football and 1 in wrestling, is a 2-time All-American in football, won the NAIA National Duals MVP in wrestling,, was named NAIA College Sports Magazine Athlete of the year and was inducted into the University of Findlay's Hall of Fame in 2005!
Don is a legendary basketball coach who’s experience spans over 3 decades, 20 countries, dozens of pro basketball players, hundreds of collegiate players, and thousands of youth and high school athletes. Besides personally developing numerous NBA players 1 on 1, Don coached for Team USA in 2011, is the inventor of the highly acclaimed Attack & Counter Skill development system, has run over 1000 basketball camps across the United States, and has also served as a NBA scout for the Knicks and the Hawks. No one can deny the thousands of hours that must be dedicated to training, skill development, shooting, and conditioning to take it to the next level, but Don strongly believes mental fortitude as the key factor for unlocking your true greatness. Penny is a two Time LPGA Champion, was ranked as a Top 10 Golfer in the World, served as an ESPN Golf Commentator, and a sports radio talk show host. Since moving into her professional coaching career, she has received two Top 50 Teacher awards and published her book, Focus Determines Success: an athletic approach to achieving more. With her self-proclaimed fast-twitch brain, Penny has had to learn and develop her laser focus success principles that have guided her well through a career as a pro athlete, golf instructor, and now as a professional focus coach helping both athletes and executives achieve higher levels of focus. We’ve all been distracted before, guided away from achieving what we’re capable of, and Penny is here to help us get back on track to achieve that greatness.
Chris Korfist is a high school teacher by day and an athletic development/ sprint specialist by night. Basically, the man is your average athlete’s hero with a super power for developing speed and athleticism in anyone. Plus, he does this up north where the weather outside isn’t pulling you any favors most of the year. So, he’s transformed his basement into his laboratory, the Slow Guys Speed School, and it’s dripping with greatness! Chris has coached track for 22 years in Illinois, producing 59 All-state track athletes, 3 individual state champions, 2 team state champions, as well as personally coaching and developing professional, Olympic, and world championship athletes.
Dr. Erin Shannon
As the daughter of a professional athlete, Dr. Shannon grew up in a unique environment that has fostered her intense drive to succeed and understanding of the mind body connection. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with her BA in psychology, and earned her Masters of Psychology as well as her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology with highest honors. By integrating traditional therapy with highly effective complementary methodologies and holistic techniques, Dr. Shannon offers a personalized approach for every client, including all of her athletes in every major sport played in the United States. Jack is an athletic trainer, owns verticaljumping.com, has a 38” vertical at 40 years old, but never dunked a basketball before his 30th birthday! Even though he made it to the semi-pro level, the 5’10” with shoes on Jack thought dunking a basketball was out of the question as a result of being born with ultra-endurance genes. When he began training his vertical, using his intelligent and calculated methods, Jack was able to reach a 40” vertical and begin dunking in just a few years. Jack is a smart coach and athlete, who even developed software to help athletes jump out of the gym, and today is coaching athletes from across the world through video analysis. Later this year, Jack will be releasing his cutting edge vertical jump book, but until then he’s pulling back the curtain on his incredible training methods for everyone exclusively on The Athlete Summit.
Dr. Fred Hatfield
Dr. Fred Hatfield, dubbed Dr. Squat by his college graduate students, is one of the world’s greatest authorities on strength development and one of the most sought out consultants for developing athletes for the Olympics, baseball, football, wrestling, and powerlifting. He’s personally set multiple world records in the… You guessed it, the squat, including squatting 835lbs at just 181lbs and 1014lbs at 255lbs! He’s also a 3-time world champion power lifter, setting over 30 US national and world records across 5 weight divisions, and even was on the 1998 US Masters World Powerlifting team, all solidifying his induction into the Power Lifting Hall of Fame in 2000. Dr. Squat is more than just a power lifter. He’s also an US Marine, accomplished collegiate gymnast, 4-sport athlete every year through high school, has over 300 articles and 60 books published, launched and was the editor in chief for Men’s Fitness magazine, co-founded the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and currently serves as their President, and still performs lectures across the world.
Jim is the Director of Total Performance Training Center in Wixom Michigan, and has worked with thousands of athletes from the Olympics, NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, NCAA, high school, and down to the youth level. He is the co-founder of www.FootballCoachU.com and www.UltimateStrengthAndConditioning.com. Jim has also published the speed program, Ultimate Speed Development, and the acclaimed book, Ultimate Speed and Agility, which are both used by coaches and programs across the world. Kielbaso is such an authority on speed development, the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA), enlisted him to write their curriculum for their Certified Speed and Agility Specialist program. Not long ago, Josh Bryant was a professional powerlifter and World’s Strongest Man, with totals reaching 2300lbs, many National and World titles to his name, and was also the youngest person to ever bench 600lbs raw at age 22. Now, he has a Master’s in Exercise Science, his CSCS, the prestigious title of Master of Fitness Sciences, is the ISSA Director of Applied Strength and Power Development, and is currently getting professional to developmental athletes incredibly strong in-person, through online coaching, and his publications as a best-selling author. Josh openly shares his methodology surrounding the Josh Strength Method, which he developed through his extensive education, mentorships, and nearly 2 decades of in the trenches experience.
Wil Fleming is the owner of Force Fitness and Performance, an accomplished expert on developing explosive athletes, and is quite the explosive athlete himself. He’s an Olympic Trialist, All-American, and set the Indiana University school record all for the hammer throw. If that wasn’t enough, Wil is a junior national Olympic lifting champion and has been a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center for the same sport. Wil is also the International Youth Conditioning Association’s (IYCA). Director of Sports Performance, creating and contributing to multiple IYCA certifications, and is a sought after lecturer and coach by organizations across Europe, the US, and by the United States Olympic Committee. Even though he’s been in business for just 7 years, he’s helped 75 athletes sign D1 scholarships, over 200 athletes play their sport of choice in college, and built a brand new, state of the art facility for the new home of Force Fitness and Performance in Bloomington Indiana. Carlo Buzzichelli is a professional strength and conditioning coach, serving as the Director of the International Strength & Conditioning Institute, and is considered one of the best strength training experts worldwide. His athletes compete in track and field sprints, swimming, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu , and power lifting, winning national and international gold medals, broken national records, and have competed in the IAAF World Championships and Commonwealth Games. He’s held seminars and presented at sports performance confrences across the world including the Superior Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Camaguey and the Superior Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Ciego de Avila in Cuba, the University of Makati in the Philippines, the Universidade Paulista and the Olympic Center of Sao Paulo in Brazil, Altis (formally World Athletic Center)in Arizona, and the 2015 Performance Training Summit of Beijing in China. Carlo is a direct pupil of Tudor Bompa with whom he co-authored the 3rd edition of Periodization Training for Sports. Latif Thomas has been coaching developmental track and field athletes for nearly 2 decades and is the co-director of the Complete Track and Field Clinic, the largest high school track clinic in the United States. After his successful career as a collegiate sprinter, he’s been on a mission to upgrade track from a 2nd class sport in the US. He has USATF and USATFCCCA Event Specialist Certifications in the Sprints, Hurdles & Relays, but through his many speaking events and website, CompleteTrackAndField.com, he’s making a huge impact on the industry. Latif knocks it out of the park with this interview and I’m glad to have him on The Athlete Summit.
Ryan Banta is the current President of the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coach’s Association, is the author of The epic “Sprinter’s Compendium”, and has earned numerous certifications, including USATF level II in sprints, hurdles, and relay, as well as endurance and USTFCCCA technical certification. He also regularly blogs for SpeedEndurance.com, JustFlySports.com, EliteTrack.com, and has even been invited to the Olympic Training Center in the US as an emerging elite coach. While all of that is great, Coach Banta is passionate about developing athletes and has been doing so since 2003. With over 90 school records, 2 state records, over 40 all-state performances, 10 state champs, 14 nationally ranked events, numerous District, Conference, and top ranked State Championship seasons under his belt, Coach Banta knows a thing or two about developing greatness in developmental athletes. He’s neck deep in high school track in Missouri, having an influence nationally and internationally, and lays out a lot in this interview.
